We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
3.2 Services offered
HistoryCar.co.uk provides digital vehicle history reports for UK-registered vehicles via a subscription model. Reports are generated using data from official sources including the DVSA MOT History API and are enhanced with AI-powered analysis.
Reports may include, where available:
- MOT history and advisory notices
- Mileage records and discrepancy detection
- Vehicle technical specifications
- Risk assessments and AI-generated summaries
- Tax and SORN status
The scope and depth of information depends on data availability from official sources. We do not guarantee that all data points will be available for every vehicle.
3.3 Pricing and payment
Our service operates on a subscription basis. Current subscription plans:
Essential
Trial period: £4.99 (3 days)
Then: £29.99/month
Advanced
Trial period: £6.99 (3 days)
Then: £39.99/month
All prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Payments are securely processed via Stripe. We do not store your card details on our servers. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the end of the current billing period.
3.4 Right of withdrawal
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you normally have a 14-day right to cancel a distance purchase.
However, for digital content supplied immediately upon purchase, you acknowledge that:
- You have given your express consent to begin the supply of digital content before the end of the cancellation period.
- You acknowledge that your right of withdrawal is lost once the digital content (vehicle report) has been accessed.
Despite this, we offer a satisfaction guarantee — see our Refund Policy for details.
3.5 Limitation of liability
Vehicle history reports are compiled from third-party data sources. While we take reasonable steps to ensure accuracy, we cannot guarantee that the information is complete, current, or error-free.
- Reports are provided as a decision aid and do not replace a physical vehicle inspection by a qualified mechanic.
- We are not liable for decisions made based on the information contained in the reports.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from the use of our service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service giving rise to the claim.
- Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
4. Data protection & GDPR
We process your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We collect only the data necessary to provide our service:
- Email address (for account and report delivery)
- VIN or registration number (for vehicle lookup)
- Payment data (processed securely by Stripe)
Your data is never sold to third parties. For full details of how we handle your data, your rights, and how to exercise them, please see our Privacy Policy.
5. Dispute resolution
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
In the event of a dispute, we encourage you to first contact us at contact@historycar.co.uk so we can attempt to resolve the matter amicably through mediation.
If the dispute cannot be resolved through mediation, it shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
